Colour
Therapy & The Chakras
Colour Therapy aims to balance and enhance our body’s energy
centres (chakras) by using the seven colours of the light spectrum,
which can help to stimulate our body’s own healing process.
Have you ever wondered why you chose to wear the blue sweater today
and not the green? Or have you walked into someone's house which is
decorated in blue and felt more relaxed and peaceful than a house
painted in yellow or orange colors? The reason (and the theory behind
color therapy) is colors affect your moods, personality, feelings
and your physical energy. Every color in the rainbow radiates a different
vibration or wave length. Reds vibrate very slowly and violets vibrate
very quickly. The other five colours vibrate at rates in between these
two.
Each of the
seven colours resonates with one of the main seven chakras. Colour
Therapy uses colour to balance the Chakras of the body. If you can
imagine the chakras as a set of cogs, or wheels, they are rather
like the workings of a clock or an engine. Each cog/wheel needs
to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock/engine to
work properly. Thus good health and well being is achieved by a
balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels).
Colour therapy can help to re-balance these 'wheels' by applying
the appropriate color to the body and therefore re-balance our chakras.
Colour Therapy
is a totally holistic and non-invasive therapy. Colour is all around
us everywhere and is a part of our everyday life. This wonderful
planet does not contain all the beautiful colours of the rainbow
for no reason. Nothing on this earth is here just by chance; everything
in nature is here for a purpose and colour is no exception. All
we need to do is to heighten our awareness of the energy of colour
and how it can transform our lives. The capacity for health and
well being is within us all.
Some examples
of the various methods of colour therapy used are meditation with
colour, colour breathing, solarized water, placing of colour silks
and directing of coloured light on to the body.
A light box is the most common form of directing colour to the body
using coloured filters.
